Mark "Mac Genius" Frizzell finally convinced me to switch to iTunes for Windows, and Casey sold me on the AirPort Express. MusicMatch had been driving me nuts, especially now that the latest version crashes every time I hit the "Next Track" button on my MS Natural Keyboard Pro.
I've been having fun using the iTunes COM for Windows SDK and the most excellent Amazon Web Services to update my metadata.
Maybe people already noticed this, but I just remembered that Dick Cheney told me to check out factcheck.com during the VP debate last night. So I dutifully browsed on over there, but was surprised to find the personal web page of self-described billionare investor, philanthropist, and apparent domain-squatter George Soros. Oh, and a giant banner reading, "WHY WE MUST NOT RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BUSH." I'm pretty sure Dick meant the nice people from the Annenberg Center at factcheck.org...
UPDATE: Casey points out that this did get some coverage later in the day, and it turns out that Soros got the publicity for free!
One thing is absolutely clear: being president is really, really hard. So hard. I mean dude, "it's hard work. It's incredibly hard." In fact "there's a lot of good people working hard" because, I repeat, "it's hard work." Proof? "I see on the TV screens how hard it is ... It's hard work. Everybody knows it's hard work." I shit you not. But please, do not allow the hardness of my work to minimize "what has been a pretty hard experience for, I guess, young girls." And not just my family, I mean "Vladimir is going to have to make some hard choices," too. And don't forget the allies, "we've done a lot of hard work together." Too hard.
Ha! Jessica reminds me how lazy I've gotten. I should really plug in my modem and start recording funny, scary, and/or foreign-language voicemail messages again. Here's an especially polite one I found from November 1998. Can't find the others...
Aimi-Cooper Wedding
Those pikans just can’t get enough of each other.
Westport Island 2004
Had a relaxing vacation by the ocean with Lee and Lynn. We spent most of the week reading, cooking, taking photos, and generally not being at work.
It's not very often that I enjoy a piece of spam, but I've gotten some amusing variants of this one. In fact, I've been in delight shock ever since I got the joy news that it was scientific time.
So you occasionally see an old school bus, up on blocks in a field. Where I grew up some guy even lived in one, which you'd think more common with half a million of them bouncing around. Where do they all go? It's no longer a mystery after seeing my first full size school bus figure eight race. After the dust settled, they just swept up the pieces and put them out with the recycling.
Riverhead Raceway
Saturday night races at Riverhead Raceway on Long Island. NASCAR is okay, but the Grand Enduro division was amazing. Next time I have to find a better vantage point for photos.
It's such a cool feeling when something randomly triggers a memory of television ephemera. Or it's cool at first, until I can't remember any specifics and spend an hour searching for a 1980s cartoon which once featured Phil Collins' Sussudio. I finally found what I was looking for, a site for hardcore Kidd Video fans. Ah, the opening sequence brought it all back. It's neat that Glitter is now the voice of Blossom on The Powerpuff Girls.
Dead Drive Visuals
Hmmm, so this happens consistently when a secondary IDE drive "illegally dismounts" in WinXP during a copy. Kept having to hard boot as I coaxed my music collection off a busted drive...
Old Attic Stuff
Just a few of the things we found under the floorboards in the attic.
John's Xmas Party 2002
It just isn't the holidays if John hasn't been tossed into a snowbank.
Sugrue Wedding
Went to Heather and Brian's crazy-nice wedding by the ocean. Still getting the hang of this newfangled digital camera...
